BBC You and Yours Devolution - have your say
There’s a turn up then!
The BBC Radio 4 programme “You and Yours” are dedicating tomorrow’s show to devolution!
Should Scotland be given more financial autonomy?
For the last 30 years the Barnett formula has been used to allocate British taxpayers’ cash between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Many see it as unfair because of the high levels of funding that go to Scotland and Northern Ireland in particular. As it comes under review should places like Scotland be given more fiscal autonomy? Some there would even like to see it be given total independence. Would the break up fo the union be a positive move or is it better for the Scots to stay within Britain? Let us know.
Please take the time to get intouch with them using this form or by calling them on 0800 044 044 this afternoon or tomorrow morning before 10 am.

This is what I submitted. A bit rambling but the best I could do on a Monday afternoon. The phone line has been engaged all afternoon so hopefully there will be some good comments in favour of England on the show. Assuming of course that they get past the BBC thought police.
The Barnett Formula is an insult to every living English man, woman and child. It’s an outrage that Scots are considered to be worth £1500 more per year per person from central government than the English.
But the problem with devolution goes far deeper than just money.
There’s the English regions project that splits England into nine Euro regions. When the people of the so called north east region were consulted they rejected regional government by a massive majority - but England gets regionalised all the same. The Scots had a referendum on a parliament - England gets cut up - and stitched up with no democratic mandate.
There also seems to be a systematic eradication of the words England and English.
Everything is British this and British that despite the fact that 80% of the time the subject is actually - English. Routinely Scots are Scottish but the English British - the BBC is among the main perpetrators of this slow motion ethnic cleansing.
Gordon Brown - can’t bring himself to even say the words “England” or “English” despite the fact that 80% of the legislation he’s involved in affects the English BUT not his own Scottish constituents - something is very wrong there.
Scottish history is taught in Scottish schools, Welsh history is taught in Welsh schools, but in England - its British history that’s taught. Slowly but surely removing English heritage and identity from new generations. What they do not know - they cannot miss. Which of course, is exactly what the British Government and the EU want.
The devolution process that’s treated the English with such contempt and that treats the English as fourth class citizens in their own country has stripped away any Britishness I may once have felt. Now I am English and only English.
UPDATE
I had a call first thing this morning inviting me to speak on the show - sadly they never made the call so I didn’t get to vent my spleen.
The show was interesting and is definitely worth listening to.
David Wildgoose representing the Campaign for an English Parliament did an excellent job at putting the English case within the time allowed - very calm and very measured. Well done David. As I’ve said before Mr Wildgoose should be running the whole thing. Perhaps he could get something done about their website which despite a fairly recent re-design still doesn’t do the cause credit. Sadly they just don’t seem to understand its importance.
